In an age that values intensity over integration, the rise of Kundalini has become a goal for some, a promise of rapid transcendence. We look for it as we would look for a performance, an extraordinary experience.
Extreme breathing, trances, cosmic orgasms: anything seems a good way to “wake up”.
More and more people, after these ill-prepared experiences, find themselves exhausted, lost and uprooted.
Their impulse was pure - they wanted to vibrate, to feel - but their body, their nervous system, their psyche were not ready.
This article proposes another path: that of inner maturation, of the cultivation of’Ojas, and a real understanding of the laws of the body and energy.
It's an invitation to slow down, to anchor yourself, to take time out. Tantra an embodied and profound path, rather than a terrain for mystical exploits.
Because we are in need.
- Lacking meaning in a world where everything moves too fast.
- In need of real connections, in a society of masked loneliness.
- A lack of feeling, while hyperstimulation anaesthetises our depths.
La Kundalini rising becomes a promise of power, an illusion of liberation.
But an ill-contained fire burns instead of lighting.
In Ayurveda and Tantric texts, Ojas is the body's most subtle vital essence.
It is the refined fruit of a complete digestion - physical, emotional, sexual and spiritual.
- It is the basis of vitality, mental clarity and emotional stability.
- It allows energy to circulate without disturbing the nervous system.
- It is linked to the sexual fluid (Shukra dhatu), but transmuted by the fire of spiritual aspiration (Tejas).
Without Ojas, any attempt to increase energy becomes a shock.
Kundalini is a dormant energy, coiled at the base of the spine (Muladhara).
When it awakens, it can generate :
- Modified states of consciousness,
- A sexual or mystical intensity,
- But it can also lead to serious physical and psychological imbalances if the body is not ready.
Explosive breathing, fire practices, shouted mantras: many modern methods seek a spectacular rise.
But they forget the subtle preparation of the ground.
- Anxiety, agitation, insomnia.
- Hypersensitivity, uncontrolled crying, euphoria followed by emptiness.
- Unstructured sexuality (compulsions or loss of desire).
- Identity disorders, loss of anchorage, mental confusion.
Kundalini does not awaken “against” the body. It needs a ready body, an open heart and a stable mind.
Authentic Tantra does not seek explosion. It prepares the container before pouring in the light.
Growing Ojas means :
- Adopting a living, digestible diet
- Favour deep sleep and regular rhythms
- Treat yourself to conscious massages that nourish the nervous system (such as tantric massage)
- Respecting transmuted sexuality: ejaculatory economy, sublimation, presence
- Practise meditation, chanting mantras and slow breathing
- Avoid violent practices that seek to “force” awakening
Activating the Kundalini is not an end in itself.
It's not a spiritual badge.
It only makes sense when it is supported by a sincere quest for unity, real integration into everyday life.
Tantra reminds us of this:
“What you are looking for is not a deflagration, but a living peace.”
Our world condemns slowness, tenderness and rootedness.
It pushes us to consume even spirituality: always louder, faster, more intense.
And yet, what the body demands, what the soul craves, is to be respected.
- The desire for awakening is not a mistake, but it must be listened to with discernment.
- Inner suffering is not a call to transgression, but to attention.
- It's not the Kundalini that needs to be calmed, it's our need to flee from what is slow, true, human.
Tantra is not a shortcut to ecstasy.
It's an organic path that starts in the body, takes root in the soul and enlightens the mind.
Ojas is earth. Kundalini is fire.
Without earth, fire destroys.
With Ojas, fire lights the way.
This article is an invitation to revisit our relationship with the “spiritual path”.
Not as a race or a proof, but as a humble, profound and joyful way of life.
