I bought my son a children's novel to help him prepare for his return to 6th grade.
A real novel, without images, chosen with care:
« Le Passe-Miroir» by Christelle Dabos.
Nothing too complicated. But nothing visual either.
And that's where it all began.
He, who is used to mangas and immediate images, interrupts me after a few lines:
«Mum, there's no picture.»
I reply:
«No, that's just it. This time you'll have to create the image yourself.»
We read in two voices. Each one a chapter.
Then I ask him to tell me what he has understood. But I can feel his struggle.
And mine too.
Because this type of reading, even for me, requires one essential thing: time to get into it.
Patience so that the words slowly sketch out, inside, a universe we haven't yet seen.
And then I had a revelation.
When children discover the slowness of a story, they also learn to live in silence.
Building a world inside him.
To belong.
Imagination is a secret chamber where he can one day take refuge when life becomes too hard.
A place that needs to be maintained, enhanced and visited often.
And in a fast-paced, noisy, screen-saturated world...
Reading a book without pictures becomes an act of resistance.
An inner prayer.
Today, everything is pre-packaged.
We are given the scene, the colours, the faces.
We become passive before the world.
Reading a novel becomes an asceticism.
You have to build everything inside you.
Slow. Demanding. But infinitely more powerful.
I said to my son:
« If you interrupt me, I can't go on my journey.
I have to build up the image in my head.
You can't see it from the outside, but it's being born inside. »
And I said to myself:
How many adults have also lost this ability?
How many have abandoned their imagination?
Without imagination :
Imagination is an inner land, a living matrix.
It connects us to desire, memory and the life drive.
But if we don't learn to cultivate it, this land will dry up.
And we become consumers of images, unable to create a single one from within.
Without imagination, you can't :
Tales, dreams, metaphors are all part of the story. therapeutic tools powerful.
They contain within them transformation, symbolic displacement and hidden meaning.
And in the tantric massage, when I use archetypes, images, elements...
I restore the body's ability to imagine...
to feel, to understand, to repair.
It means looking beyond.
It means sensing what might be.
It's about rekindling the beauty of the world inside you.
Imagination is a sacred fire.
And those who take the time to honour it give themselves a whole world.
Painting by Nestor Martin-Fernandez de la Torre
Imagination is at the root of desire.
And desire, in its purest form, is the root of the sacred.
Before we touch, before we want, before we pray - we need to see things differently.
Not with the eyes, but with that inner, intuitive vision that anticipates form.
Imagining is more than dreaming.
It's about opening up an inner alcove, an empty, living space, where that which doesn't yet have a name can seep in.
It means preparing the ground for a hatching,
vibrating the living before it even happens.
Not an act. Or a word.
But with a breath.
A wave.
A desire that vibrates even before it exists.
This is where it all begins.
Desire is not born of lack.
It is born of the impetus of the imagination, of the ability to sense that another world is possible.
To imagine is to say:
«What if there was another space inside me? Another version of love, pleasure, prayer?»
That's why true desire is always born of a living imagination,
and not a frozen fantasy.
Desire then becomes a journey,
a dance towards the Source,
a call from the living world to reveal itself in a new way.
When I accompany a breath, I'm telling a story.
When I touch a skin, I awaken a memory.
When I massage, I invite you to travel.
Because every Tantric act is also a poetic act.
A way of opening up the invisible.
And sometimes that's love itself.
Loving the invisible. Loving the possible.
Loving before the world takes shape.
Imaginary.
Desire.
Mystical.
Three languages. One source.
Three faces of the same thrill of existence.
And maybe that's what it's all about, the tantric vocation :
- Reconciling these three languages.
- Giving desire back its mystical dimension.
- Giving the imagination its healing power.
And remember that nothing is more alive than that which vibrates before it is born.
